Founded in 1934, the NBOME is an independent, nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization that protects the public by providing the means to assess competencies for osteopathic medicine and related health care professions.  Over these 75 years, the NBOME has gained considerable recognition for excellence in the national and the international arena of physician testing and evaluation.

Grounded in the NBOME mission and its core values of quality, integrity, accountability, commitment and safety, the NBOME Board of Directors provides strategic direction to our highly dedicated professional staff at NBOME’s two corporate locations.  Our National Administrative Offices are located in the Chicago (O’Hare Airport) region, and the NBOME National Center for Clinical Skills Testing and Executive Offices are based in Philadelphia (Conshohocken) area. 

The NBOME operational team leads the talents and contributions of several hundreds of professionals from all around the country who have responsibility and expertise in the health professions, medical practice, medical education and evaluation, and physician licensure and regulation.  Together these individuals comprise the numerous NBOME committees that perform a wide array of duties regarding high quality test development, continuous quality control, innovations in testing, and research initiatives that support NBOME’s mission. 

The NBOME has continued to expand the scope of its services and programs to meet the growing needs of its key stakeholders.  These include the public and state medical licensing boards, osteopathic medical students and physicians in residency training, practicing physicians, medical educators and colleges of osteopathic medicine, residency program directors, national professional organizations, and the national and international testing and medical licensure communities.  We hope that you enjoy your visit to our new website, and that you will return frequently to keep apprised of the activities of the NBOME.
